About Amy Wong

Amy Wong (b.1981 Toronto) is a painter of Cantonese descent, who has lived and worked in Canada, the US, the Netherlands, Spain, and China. Wong is a graduate of Concordia University in Montréal Québec, and the prestigious post graduate residency De Ateliers in Amsterdam, the Netherlands.

Amy Wong’s paintings, drawings and sound work are a collection of diverse cultural references, oscillating between different systems of representation to evoke non-linear narratives. Tongue in cheek yet absolutely sincere, Wong works with what she considers a bad idea or a cliché in order to redefine them on her own terms.

She can make the East, the West, the best and the rest, come together with a smile and a tongue in the check. (sic) I hereby recommend Amy Wong to You.
